FOUNDATION OF THE CHURCH OF COGNIZANCE
1. We recorded our intent to unite the worlds Ethnic Minority utilizing/relying upon cannabis as an Ethno-Socio-Religious Institute in 1994, explaining that we follow Neo-Zoroastrian tenets. [Reasoning them to be the least convoluted, and most ancient source of related practices and belief.]
2. The Avesta of Zoroastrianism declares "no wily priest are needed", and why, declaring cannabis questions the user direct! It provokes thought!
3. A democracy that recognizes only man made laws perforce obliterates the concept of Liberty as a divine right.
4. Sovereignty itself is, of course, not subject to law, for it is the author and source of law; but in our system, while sovereign powers are delegated to the agencies of government, sovereignty itself remains with the people, by whom and for whom all government exists and acts. Planned future activity of the Church Of Cognizance, included amongst other plans as finance becomes available, are to:
1. Wave our flag higher by publishing in world read newspapers 2. Begin a theological institute that teaches history of religion with emphasis on cannabis 3. Present a Constitutional challenge to existing laws obstruction of personal choice in exercising equally, creator bestowed Human Rights and Natural Liberties in our use of naturally occurring substances, a Natural Right bestowed of the creative force upon all.
We have looked into various methods of better organization for our church in a way that maintains "separation of church and state". Some may assert that organizing a church as a corporation sole isn't as bad as organizing as a non-profit 501c3 tax-exempt religious corporation. But such an argument is just quibbling over different shades of gray.
The corporation sole church cannot be supported and defended biblically, any more so than can the non-profit incorporated church. They are both corporations, brought into existence by the State, regulated by the State, and made subordinate to the State. They "render unto Caesar" that which Christ never delegated authority to the State to govern, regulate or render. This is why we remain a "Free Church", Established and concretized in our recording of the creation of The Church Of Cognizance in 1994, that the world may be aware of our form of existence.

A declaration of belief is probably one of the most important defense items to have. I just discovered the link in downloads for the program we use to print our member ID cards was broken it has been updated by making a copy I had available. It is at
the size should be set for "5371 Business Card" on these following card sets that you can download and use. You can print on blank card stock and cut out by hand or use the perforated ones at wal-wart.

As three agents form the DEA ,with forthought (holders of Dan's Cards) tried to forceably enter the COC Sanctuary. All of us arrested, and tried, await the outcome of this attack on freedom. Will the authorities whom have taken an oath of office, to the corperation of the US or whatever they say they are, be culpable of hate crimes from now on ? OR can a Fereral INjunction be asked for? I just wanted to post this message to all who may not know about the illegal arrest and false imprisonment of E.C. Dan and E.C. Mary. They were on official buisness of the church, procuring sacred sacrament when they were detained they are now being held at the dona ana county detention facility in las cruces, new mexico. I have been aware of the violation on Dan, Mary, the Church, and other's. This is all very wrong and we can only pray that our right to believe will be respected and honored.
What is needed, if not done, is a Legal Fund to be set up so that financial help can be raised for this legal battle.
I do pray for the safety and health of all involved.

Where can I join the coc? I live in Phoenix, Arizona.
In light of today's persecution of those that truely desire to practice the religion their conscience directs, we can appreciate wanting to remain anonymous. The best we can tell you is that this is the page where membership information and information about the COC is located. Look above, there are two links, one is a form that can be filled out and mailed to the Cultural Information Center of the Church of Cognizance that maintains a record of registered members. The other option is to use the link below that link to register online and your information will go to the same location and be kept as a matter of record. All registered members are entered in the online database, which only discloses the name of your monastery, and the fact you are a registered member. An example of that database can be accessed from the help menu link at the top of this or any other page on this website. The help menu is in the link on the top right hand side of the pages. As far as giving out information of other monasteries we do not do that because of the persecution. I can tell you there are several monasteries in the Phoenix area, but like yourself most prefer to remain anonymous. Thank you for your interest and have a great day.
